New York Attorney General Letitia James Under DOJ Criminal Investigation for Alleged Mortgage Fraud

New York Attorney General Letitia James, widely recognized for her legal battles against former President Donald Trump, is now facing a criminal investigation by the U.S. Department of Justice. The probe, reportedly led by U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi, centers on allegations that James committed mortgage fraud by misrepresenting property details to secure favorable loan terms.

According to sources, a grand jury is examining claims that James falsely declared a Virginia home as her primary residence and misrepresented the unit count of a Brooklyn property. The investigation originated from a referral by William Pulte, a former Trump administration official, who contends James engaged in deliberate deception.

James has firmly denied the accusations, characterizing them as politically motivated retaliation orchestrated by Trump allies. Her attorney emphasized the perceived irony of the situation, noting that James had previously accused Trump of similar real estate misrepresentations.

Despite the ongoing investigation, James’ office stated she remains focused on her work for the people of New York and will not be intimidated by what she views as partisan attacks.
